There has been some news floating around about how wal-mart is discontinuing their blue foam that we use in weapon construction. I just visited them and found this to be true, however they will be haveing a replacement blue foam as it is widely used in yoga stuff... and dagorhir... they said the new foam will be cheeper so we will have to test it out. But keep your eyes open for replacement stuff.

You know I heard about that and forgot. I went looking for it the other day and couldn't find it.

We own a blue yoga mat that looks similar to the weapon padding...but it's no where near as thick nor as soft, it's very compact and durable. I hope that's not what they are getting, because thats not very safe to use at all for weapons. We'd have to get a softer inner layer and use that as an outer protective layer.

Last time i checked i saw the new foam and it seemed too spongy by the fact that with minor pressure between my fingertips i was able to touch them together even through the entire width of the foam

I found a new type of foam, however it is open cell. It is just as strong, stiff, and thick as the blue closed cell foam, however it is an open cell. I will be at the meeting tomorrow to demonstrate it with my new Katana. It is 8.49 with tax and when crafted works wonderfully as a weapon foam. However despite this the foam is prone to make popping noises when squeezed so it might deteriorate faster than the blue foam.
NOTE!!! It is far to stiff to be used as a Green stabbing foam.

Success, Though there is some trouble with the walmart in traverse City saying the blue foam is discontinued, Infectious and I discovered a large supply of it in the Cadillac Walmart. I asked them if it was discontinued and they said it was not and is here to stay. they had a bout 10 roles on sunday and I took 3. so if you need some blue foam I would suggest heading down.

I'm fairly certain this isn't the foam we use. It may be closed cell but I think its the rubbery bad kind. The blue rolls WalMart sells are Ozark Trail and are around $6 a piece.
Btw, Wilhelm and I went to Cadillac's WalMart and they do have LOTS of blue foam! We got two rolls. ^_~

Yeah thats definately not the same stuff. What you're looking for is Ozark trail... That stuff seems a bit overpriced right there... We'll be good for blue foam with the occasional exodus to Cadillac. lol
