I've heard a lot of bellyaching from people when it comes to wearing garb for dagorhir. These are usually new people that lean towards the Stick-Jock mentality.
But, even the Stick Jock veterans have no problem wearing garb and looking "like a geek".
They think of Dag in the same way one thinks baseball, basketball, etc... And they understand garb as....
A UNIFORM.
If you aren't the type to get hyped up about having proper gear, think of it this way, would you rather be playing an opposing team wearing shitty torn shorts and a stained wife-beater, or wear something that the other team sees and says "Wow this guy's good."
Seriously though... I want to see more garb, from more people.
You guys have been here long enough, and it's even in the welcrie policies.
No excuses if you've been here long enough. Suck it up.

Couldn't have said it better myself. There is absolutely no reason to not have garb! Its in both the Dagorhir rules and Welcrie policies, you can't participate at events without it, and as far as I'm concerned people won't be attending co-practices without it either. That includes our own. We've been talking to the Silver Ravens about them joining us for a few practices. If this happens I don't want to see anyone there out of garb.
We set the limit that you should have garb within 3 months, and I think that is generous.
This has been posted a million times before, but I'll post it again... IF YOU NEED HELP WITH GARB THEN ASK!! I am more than willing to teach people how to make their own garb. Hell if you're craftily inept I'll make it for you! I can manage a T-Tunic inside an hour. And fabric is not always a problem. If you can't afford something, ask around. I myself have baskets full of scrap fabric I'm sure something can be arranged.
On the other end of things, I want to extend a thank you to those who have been making the effort to come to practice in garb. Its these types of good examples that improve the chapter and show your dedication to the sport.

You know, I like the concept of garb. If you're an RPer, don't be shy about it, and if you're not, you're part of a team. Isn't unity part of teamwork? Isn't the fashion of the sport part of the sport? I mean, I'd get a good chuckle out of a guy walking around with football gear as his regular clothes, but I took to the field and put on pads once upon a time, and didn't feel ridiculous. Dagorhir, in that aspect, is no different, and it IS a sport. Anyone that says otherwise needs a kneecap torn off.
Besides, its a mark of pride. Your garb says that you'll swing hard, fight with honor, take every hit and keep coming back for more. Wear your garb with pride - I know I will when I get mine.
