As Ragnarok approaches, I feel it is necessary to post what I can to get everyone ready. Ragnarok, as you may or may not know, is garb-restricted. Meaning if you plan on being their the whole week, plan on having garb to last you through that week. Not only that, but PASSING garb. For help, please browse through the relevant threads in the national forums: www.dagorhir.com/forums/This means no t-shirts, camo, denim, etc etc... Play it smart guys, we don't wanna have anyone turned away at the gates. -Wilhelm

And guys remember that basic garb is not horrendously hard. If you need any help don't be afraid to ask! I myself have a lot of fabric leftover from other projects and I would be willing to help out those that are unable to get their own. Flint also has garb experience and I'm sure would be happy to hand out pointers.
But you need to ask now, instead of two weeks from Rag. Cuz then the person you ask may hit you. lol

say, how strict are they about garb? I'm making (nearly) all of myself, but I'm not sure how 'period' it might end up looking. I'm attempting to give it a LOTR-elven style, but some of the things I've heard suggest that it might not be allowed.

Via a post from the Warband forums: ----------------------------------------------------- "Okay just throwing out that the gates will be run by the official dagorhir rules for garb, just as weapons check is run by the official rules. Just a reminder of what the rules are. Quote 1.3 - All participants must wear a costume (“garb”) that meets or preferably exceeds minimum Dagorhir requirements: 1.3.1 - A tunic or “medieval period” style shirt, dress, or vest of crotch length or longer. This requirement may be waived only if the rest of the costume (pants, boots, etc.) is of exceptional quality and appearance. 1.3.2 - Medieval-style (baggy) pants, kilt, skirt, etc. 1.3.3 - Medieval-style footwear (moccasins, boots that are not blatantly non-medieval in style, earth-tone shoes with leggings, etc.). If you do not meet these basic requirements your not going to be able to fight until you do. I understand there are some complaints but you have a few months to acquire these basic things. remember, armour is not garb, basic scrubs or sweatpants are not "of exceptional quality or appearance" so your gonna need to spiffy them up if you plan to fight shirtless (woad and the like I believe is completely acceptable). If your wearing under armour please do all you can to conceal it (hell I wear it and no one knows). In the end we're not asking much from you, a basic tunic, earth tone pants and some earth tone shoes...that's it. I can't wait to wave you all threw the gates and look at the awesome sight of a well dressed ragnarok." --------------------------------------------------------------------- And from what Wilhelm and I have heard on the Dag grapevine T-shits will not pass at Rag, even if you have a tabard on over it. Also, no scrub pants if you fight shirtless. However, scrub pants should be fine if you're wearing at tunic over them that covers the waistline so the elastic or strings aren't showing. This is all according to the Dagorhir forums and Hanzo the Narnian garb nazi.

You should be fine as long as they aren't blatantly mundane, camo, denim, neon-ish, or have logos.

From what I was told last year, if it is your first time at rag and or you are still in your first year of dag, the restrictions on garb are not very strict, though you get points for actually haveing some. the next year they expect you to do a little better and the third year you better have all your stuff. as for Foot gear, If you wear boots that are earth toned that is fine. Alot of the larger people dont get enough ankle support from the required garb. Just remember Safty is the first priority. and as for the LOR thing Shar, who ever said it was looked down upon forgot that it is based off of Lord of the Rings. So the more LOR it looks the better.
