I'd like to see the NMC Club come up with prof tests as a whole. Something newbs and everyone can take part in. Will help in teaching our newer members. Hell i'll even help keep track of those who pass what etc if needed. We could even have the club come up with tokens/or whatever for profs passed? Let me know what you all think. Also would like to run a tournament each practice...alternating what weapons etc...and keep track of it on the forums...another way to help train newer members..Plus might add some activity to the boards.

I like the idea of having a chapter-wide weapon proficiency. If we do tokens I would suggest we do something simple since so many people would be participating, that way one person isn't stuck with the task of creating intricate tokens for 20+ people. Maybe a certain colored fabric braid to wear on your belt or something? And when you master a certain weapon you get a charm or something to put on the end.
It seems like a tournament every week in addition to the weapon proficiencies would be a little redundant. Mayhaps a tutorial class type of setup for newbs would be more efficient at teaching them.

As far as tokens go, maybe use a sliver of the college money to purchase some cheapo fabric of the different weapon color types, Red, Blue, Green, White.... And just use strips of those as the tokens. Then as you said earlier, once full mastery is assumed, add something to the end of the fabric.

Me too... Especially the part about the fabric ribbon token thingies... Mainly because, well... It's just cool to earn and wear them.
But yeah, I love it...

YES, that's much better than trinkets on the cloth, cause they won't go flying off if they get smacked mid-battle.

Angela came up with some good ideas for this very thing while we were at the BBQ and Battle. Better if she explains it...

I was thinking on the belt tokens...the sash style thing would be great...maybe we could add black lines for each rank passe...and upon mastering having something cool done instead of just the line. Been working on ranks...will share soon...to get some feed back.

Here's some ideas of what I was thinking. Basically do a symbol of the type of weapon, colored in it's weapon type. Use a number of stars (or other simple shape) to show the rank. The dimensions would be roughly 5" x 5.5" Single Blue Spear Sword and Board

These are all fantastic ideas! So would there be a different sash for each proficiency? Cuz that is a lot of sashes for one belt. What about doing a long sash with each symbol added accordingly? The symbols would have to be a bit smaller, but that way you're not running around with your own manskirt. lol There is also the matter of materials. With 1 sash for all the proficiencies you may use something like a 17" by 5" piece of material per person. However you are going to quadruple that by having individual sashes for each weapon. Also, who pays for materials? Does the college buy the fabric and all the thread? That much embroidery = lots and lots of thread! lol Who is going to make the sashes? Draengr can your machine handle that big a job? Honestly guys, I'm not tryin to be a buzz kill. Just being thorough

Just ask Sir Rune after winning every Yule tourney and the resulting man-skirt of belt-sashes.
