As winter settles on our homes in the frozen north, we bask in the warmth provided by the sandy lands to the south while war wages on in the lands of the dawn of civilization. Take up your arms, not for war, but sport, among our kith and kin and celebrate these “Holidays in the Holy Lands”. Spend your morning warming up in scenarios inspired by the 1st & 2nd Crusades, then face both your friends and enemies in a breadth of tourneys to determine our new Yule King or Queen. Tourneys include: - Sword & Board - Single Blue - Red Weapon - 2 man 1 dagger - Mongolian Wrestling - Peasant & Blue - Random Draw The top three fighters in each tourney receive points and extra points will be awarded to the fighter considered to display the “Spirit of Yule” throughout the event. The fighter with the most points at the end of the tourneys will be crowned Yule King at our Feast. Our “Holidays in the Holy Lands” will bring together flavors from the Mid-East and Euro-West as guests will enjoy dishes inspired by the 1st and 2nd Crusades throughout 3 removes. Menu will be posted closer to the event. There is a seating cap of 48 on our feast, so please pre-reg to guarantee your spot! Towards the end of our feast, we enjoy a High Court of music, stories, awards, and Mongolian gift giving. Our rules for the gift-giving are: 1). Gift must be wrapped or disguised in someway and be unmarked 2). Gift should be about $20; please no alcohol, this is a dry site. 3). Gift should be a Medieval-themed item You can send your reservation via Paypal to dimmaulfur@gmail.com or send your reservations via snail mail to: Yule 2011 c/o Jenna Goad 910 E. I'm hoping to make it since I'm down by Nashville TN currently. Just depends on funds currently. Truck is running just need to get plates/tags on it then i'm good to go. Think its about 3 hour drive for me. Also I have no garb/gear down here yet Ilariia who all is down this way and how would I contact those around me? I've found one group down here to practice with so far...The Sage Hill Chapter. Plan on going to their practice this Sunday down in Smyrna TN. Pretty decent size group down here, guess they have between 35-50 that practice. Anyways hoping to make Yule in a very bad way. Who all is coming for Michigan? Wilhelm/Rhiannon/Borha/Chimaw? God I miss you guys can't wait to see you all.

I don't think Borha is making it, so at the moment it looks like Me, Rhiannon, and Yngvin (chimaw). If Skraeling comes, then possibly him and Calaen too.

You don't need a local Drott to be a thrall to the empire, we have people scattered across the midwest and south. Plus there are a number of Karls in your area, most of them are just dealing with real life at the moment. Yule is technically a 1 day event, but we usually have a bunch going on around it. Friday is set-up and hang out time. Saturday night we have a revel and party and sunday we usually try to do a group breakfast. If you ride up with Caitlin, she usually stays the whole weekend, so there is plenty of time for hanging out

Sounds good. I can't wait. I am taking saturday and sunday off and telling my work i can only work until like 3 on friday. I was planning on leaving by 4 on friday since its only like a 3 hour drive. I have a large vehicle so I have plenty of room for anyone else who may need a ride. as it stands right now its just me and lacey going. and she isn't positive if she can go yet. So if Caitlin needs a ride thats cool with me. I asked a bunch of people at Sage Hill if they were going but they said most likely not How many people are we expecting to attend? guess i'll have to try and thrall up then once some of the Karls are more active. Can't let all my friends from back home have all the fun. Damn Borha/Billy needs to come too. Anyways can't wait to see everyone.

Borha is more and more trying to be able to go. We'll see. And hey, you'll have an easier time making thrall then you would in Northern Warband territory, with the Initiate stage and all.

The current system in place for Northern Warband you ask to be a member, you become an initiate, from there you accumulate the gear and backstory and whatnot you need to make thrall, and that gear and whatnot pretty much puts you in line to just proving yourself and taking the time it makes to become Karl.
For the other Dimma Ulfur you just have to profess wanting to join, and you are granted thrallship. Then it's a matter of accumulating the garb, gear, etc etc, and taking the time and proving yourself to make Karl.
. . You seen the handbook?

No i have not seen the handbook yet. I'll check the DU site tonite and see if its there. Ya all my garb is back home. Rhiannon has my black poet shirt tho! I'm coming with no garb/gear but James/chimaw said he will bring me some stuff to use until I can get on feet down here and buy/make new stuff.
Doubt i'll see any of my stuff from back home, since my ex and I aren't on good terms and everything is stored at her moms house.
Can't wait to see and meet everyone! Jan 8th can't get here quick enough. I'm planning on heading down friday the 7th, and leaving the 9th. What day/time you guys getting there from Michigan?
