Okay, even though these techniques work for Dag, I want you guys to know I'll be calling the stretcher party for you if you every had occasion to try to do this with a real sword. For starters, the thumb is usually tucked in, otherwise it makes a great target. Second, with a real sword, turning the wrist over may get around the shield, but it's not going to deliver the power that you need to hurt someone. Especially if they happen to be rushing you at the same time.
However for Dag purposes, the instruction is pretty good, and the techniques seem to be workable.

It's a hard first bump to get over, distinguishing what would work in a real battle and what works on the field of Dag.
Personally, I think as long as you're having fun out there, go for what works for ya.
